PFW portal milling machines

The PFW range are high-performance universal machines for 5-sided machining of larger work pieces in a single clamping operation.

PFW-T type machines have a fixed portal and a moving, hydrostatically guided table. Even the heaviest work pieces can thus be moved with no sticking or slipping. The dual columns create a stable frame so that heavy machining tasks are possible. The operator control station right next to the machining area always offers an optimal view.

A broad range of traverses, milling head options, and accessories allows for the right machine for any application.

For the largest traverses in the vertical axis, the machine is also available with a height-adjustable cross beam (W axis).

PFW type portal milling machineshave a gantry design with overhead guides. The work piece stays still and therefore has no effect on the machine dynamics. The work area is easily accessible through large doorways.

To increase efficiency through a runtime parallel set-up, the machine is available as the PFW-DT variant with double table, where the individual tables are alternately traversed into the work area. When required, the two tables can also be coupled and traversed synchronously, thus allowing for the machining of oversized parts.

An NC rotary table as the 4th axis in the PFW-RT model opens up additional areas of application, for example in power plant and plant construction. Multiple rotary table sizes meet the various load requirements.

You gain even more flexibility by combining the two production processes of turning and milling. With an integrated, hydrostatically mounted turning and milling rotary table, even the heaviest work pieces can be “revved up”.
